PRESIDENT MESSAGE
Dear SFRR-E members, 
Our last SFRR-E Annual Meeting 2024 was held on the 5th-7th June in the very nice city of Istanbul with the theme "From Molecules to Tissues: Redox Biology in Action" (https://www.redoxistanbul2024.com/), and was organized by Dr. Emrah Eroglu with the valuable assistance of Prof. Nesrin Kartal-Özer. We were delighted that our annual meeting attracted 240 participants. The meeting started with a friendly Meet-the-Professor-Session led by our Early Career Researcher (ECR) subcommittee. The high quality scientific programme included 5 Award Lectures, 5 symposia, 32 speakers, 6 special ECR events, 2 satellite symposia, 23 oral communications and 125 posters. The social program included a very pleasant welcome reception at the Movenpick hotel and a wonderful conference dinner held on a boat at the Bosphorus. We gratefully acknowledge the significant sponsorship provided by Elsevier and the Oxygen Club of California, as well as the additional sponsors of this meeting: Istanbul Medipol University, Tübitak, Zeiss, BMG Labtech, Baker Ruskinn, Lucid Scientific, and EMBO.
Next year SFRR-E will host the SFRR-International Biennial Meeting 2025, which will be held in Galway, Ireland, on the 3rd-6th June with the theme “The New Era of Redox Biology: from Basic Biochemistry to Redox Omics”, and will be organized by Dr. Kasia Whysall. This meeting will provide a great opportunity to strengthen the link among all SFRR Regional Societies and to address new exciting scientific challenges, with highly relevant updates on state-of-the-art research in the field.
The ECR subcommittee continues to be very proactive in promoting additional activities and organizes very interesting series of SFRR-E webinars as well as the mentoring program.
We would like to congratulate the SFRR-E Young Investigator Award Winners Annual Meeting 2024: Atilla Altinpinar (UK), Irene Canovas-Cervera (Spain), Ufuk Ersoy (UK), Javier Marques (Spain), Konstantinos Papanikolaou (Greece), Lea Strohm (Germany); and the SFRR-E Young Investigator Award Winners Spetses School 2024: Anne Sophie Scheller (Germany), Felix Schmidt (Germany), and Karoline Scholzen (Sweden).
Finally, we do hope that the wars in Ukraine and Middle East will be over soon, to allow all people to live safe and peacefully.
